Description

Lake Taupo Lodge is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) and has been operating for five years. Hosts Shirley and Gary Akers have managed to give their guests a "home away from home" feeling.

Privacy is the key word, with only four luxury suites creating an intimate atmosphere.

The Lodge caters for everything from a honeymoon to a private hideaway. With New Zealand's largest lake on its doorstep, guests not only experience the ever-changing scenery, but also the best trout fishing in the world.

The main lounge (with its log fire and library) is the focal point to meet other guests, but there are many places where one can get away from it all.

A stay at Lake Taupo Lodge includes a four-course dinner and sumptuous breakfast. Lodge facilities include an all-weather tennis court, spa and petanque court.

Gary and Shirley are both keen on fishing, boating and taking the dog for a walk. Their extensive knowledge of the Taupo region will be shared with guests. Your hosts provide that extra New Zealand upmarket touch to their international guests, and English/German are spoken.

The Lodge is located just five minutes off State Highway 1, north of Taupo in Acacia Bay. Lake Taupo, Huka Falls, Taupo township and the world-renowned Wairakei International Golf Course (No. 17 in US Golf Digest) are all within 10 minutes by car. Courtesy transport is provided from the airport, and limousine service or air charters can be arranged.
